Atomos: launched HDR 4Kp60 Ninja Inferno.


Atomos plans for its recently released HDR 4Kp60 10-bit 422 Ninja Inferno monitor recorder to become a dynamic duo with the Panasonic GH5 camera.

The new Ninja Inferno system brings 10-bit color resolution, 4:2:2 color accuracy, high frame rate 4K 60p video resolution and HDR brightness to the GH5. The new Atomos system also serves as an HDMI monitor recorder to accept 4K DCI signals from a range of cameras. Support for the 4096 DCI standard unlocks cinema recording from 4K video and mirrorless DSLRs.

iCAS- installed by 80 MSOs.


According to a report submitted by the Standing Committee on Information & Technology (SCIT) in Lok Sabha , Indigenous conditional access system or iCAS has been deployed in 300,000 set-top boxes (STBs) by about 80 multi-system operators (MSOs) across the country.

iCAS is being developed by the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) in collaboration with Bengaluru-based ByDesign, which expects 10 lakh STBs with iCAS to be installed in the next 6–9 months. The iCAS design was approved by the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY) in November 2015 and its rollout started in January 2016.

In a written note to the committee, the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (MIB) stated that, after the rollout of iCAS, about 100 lakh (1 crore) STBs had been installed by MSOs, out of which about three lakh STBs were with iCAS, giving a market share of 3%.

 The ministry stated that, as per data provided by the sssociation of domestic STB manufacturers, during the period 2013–16, 190 lakh STBs were produced by domestic manufacturers. MIB: Provisional MSO licenses should be treated as Regular Registration.


Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB)-India has declared that Provisional MSO licenses should be treated as Regular Registration for 10 years unless cancelled or suspended.

With this step MIB has removed ambiguity between provisional and permanent or regular registrations. Provisional Registration also valid for a period of 10 years and require security clearance from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA)

MIB said, “It has been decided by the competent authority that all valid provisional MSO registrations, unless cancelled/suspended subsequently, may be treated as deemed regular registrations for a period of 10 years from the date of issuance of respective provisional registration”

MIB added that registration could be cancelled if any MSO is found detrimental to the security of the country. All other terms and conditions stated in the provisional registration letters will continue to apply.  However, the MSOs have to submit, within six months from date of issuance of MSO registration, the details of the headend, SMS, subscriber list and….

DEN- Soft -launched its OTT Services.


DEN- MSO (Multi-system operator) soft launched its OTT service “DEN TV+” with 144 free-to-air (FTA) channels. The app is available on Android as well as iOS. The MSO has partnered with DigiVive Services,to launch the OTT service.
